# Platform Fees and Pricing
Opendatabay Marketplace - Platform Fees and Pricing Structure
## Transaction Fees and Charges
Opendatabay applies a **progressive commission structure** on all **dataset sales, API calls, and data access fees**. The effective commission rate decreases as the transaction value increases, providing lower rates for higher-value transactions.
Opendatabay does **not charge upfront listing fees**. Fees are applied only when a transaction is completed.
The applicable commission is calculated based on the value of each individual transaction and is not calculated cumulatively across multiple transactions.

For transaction values within a range, the applicable commission rate decreases progressively between the stated rates. The exact fee is calculated automatically when the Data Provider sets the sale price.

### Examples
**Example 1:** Selling a dataset for $2,500 → Opendatabay fee is 24% ($604) and the seller receives $1,896
**Example 2:** Selling a dataset for $31,000 → Opendatabay fee is 14% ($4,278) and the seller receives $26,720.
**Example 3:** Selling a dataset for $50,000 → Opendatabay fee is 10% ($5,000) and the seller receives $45,000.
**Example 4:** Selling a dataset for $160,000 → Opendatabay fee is approximately 7% ($11,600) and the seller receives approximately $148,400.
**Example 5:** Selling a dataset for $250,000 → Opendatabay fee is 5% ($12,500) and the seller receives $237,500.
For transactions above $250,000, the Opendatabay commission is capped at 5%, meaning the Data Provider receives 95% of the sale price.

## Payment Terms
### Method of Payment
Payments will be made via **bank transfer**.
### Currency
All payments are made in **USD ($) or USD ($)**
### Payout Thresholds
Payments are processed only when total earnings reach a **minimum of $100**.
### Disputes and Refunds
In case of a dispute or refund request, payment may be withheld until the issue is resolved.
### Payment Details
The Data Provider is responsible for providing **accurate payment details**. Opendatabay is not liable for payments sent to incorrect details.

## Fee Updates
Opendatabay reserves the right to update commission rates or fees. Data Providers will be notified of any changes **at least 30 days in advance**.
Where a specific Data Product has an agreed fee structure under an existing listing or separate written agreement, that agreed structure will apply to the relevant transaction unless otherwise agreed in writing.

## Tax Compliance
The Data Provider is responsible for **declaring and paying any applicable taxes** on earnings from sales through the marketplace, in accordance with local tax regulations.

## Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance
The Data Provider must comply with their country's **AML laws and regulations**. Opendatabay may request verification documents to meet legal obligations and may **suspend payments** until the required documentation is provided.
